"Titans together!"
Mar. 16th, 2005 10:13 pmMy day went fairly well than yesterday-spending time away, focusing on what I needed to get done was worth it. Perhaps tomorrow, I'll be a bit more calmer around my best friend, or he could do something that will get me upset at him. Either way, on St. Patrick's Day, I'll need to risk going out-and, wearing something green. (Beast Boy would never have to worry about getting pinched; his entire body is green, so he's safe.)
Speaking of which, Teen Titans #22 went well. Much like Robin with Teen Titans #20, Raven narrated most of this issue-not all of it, like Robin did-from the beginning until the middle of it. The 2nd part of "Lights Out" surprised me-I figured that the team would be able to handle him-with his new, improved attitude, apparently, they have a fight on their hands. To see both Batman and Batgirl with minor cameos was impressive. I liked Batman's response to one of the two protectors of Blüdhaven-Robin being the other one-"When this is finished...they WANT him." The Batman was holding a sword in his hand as he said this, which was a bit thrilling to see.
Seeing the appearance of two younger icons named Dove and Hawk had an impact, but not as big as the impact I received when, on the final pages, Starfire's plan went into effect-everyone who had been a part of the Teen Titans in one way or another, from Nightwing to Robin to Starfire to Flamebird to The Flash to Kid Flash to Captain Marvel Jr. to Arsenal to the current Speedy...it was truly awesome to see. The final lines have me waiting on pins and needles for next month:
Dr. Light: "Well? What are you waiting for, Nightwing? I know you're DYING to say it."
Nightwing: "TITANS TOGETHER!"
This evening's quote will be said by the aforementioned Teen Titan who narrated this issue. It fits my still mixed emotions in more ways than I would care to admit.
"I have always hated the darkness. I have always hated a part of myself." -Raven, Teen Titans #22: War and Peace
