white_tiger: Tigerzord! (Paraphrasing Member of Batfamily)
I find it nearly humorous to realize that I actually made time to try and work on at least one of my self-promised reviews only 19 days after I stated that I would do so. (Revolving around Young Justice, I'll get to that next week hopefully, and as for Red Robin, Teen Titans and yesterday's released Supergirl I'll pan out during the weekend after work on Saturday.

Saturday also happens to be my Mom's birthday, but as I still haven't got paid yet any presents I would've tried to get her I can't until the following week.

She could've just said it was 'complicated...!' )

After a semi-dramatic, near-filled with Bat-angst, story like that one a breather was needed even if it was only two parts. Enter last week's released issue which has already gotten quite the response, even from critics, concerning two people who don't particularly like each other but have to get along to work together on a Batman: Inc. case...

There's hope for him yet. )

Happy New Year, everyone! 2010 was an up-and-down year for most people and hopefully 2011 will be just a little bit better in the long run. (For me, I had my fair share of good and bad last year so I'm pretty cool with how it turned out - mostly.)

Based on the same name of the comic book that had a pretty decent run from 1998-2003, the new series from Cartoon Network entitled Young Justice, makes it's debut this upcoming Friday at 7:00 and along with my regular critiques of Red Robin and Batgirl, I'll be observing how this series pans out. (I will get around to posting my takes on the last 2 months of both aforementioned issues; the obvious differences between comic!YJ's Robin & Impulse as well as TV!YJ's Robin & Kid Flash were shown from the start with some similarities.) I'll also start making my opinion known on comic!Teen Titans and the new beginning that started back in October 2010 which will lead to a Red Robin/Teen Titans crossover in February. It's one I've been anticipating and waiting for as it finally reunites Tim Drake with his best friends as well as another encounter confrontation with his successor/brother/rival.

Here's to a great and productive 2011!

The weekend didn't end on a sour note for once. Sure, I wasn't able to go to the places I wanted to go today-the mall, which was closed, or Wal-Mart; also closed due to the holiday-but upon getting home, I had some food waiting for me when I got there. (I even got some food from Jack In The Box, since it was one of the only fast food places I can think of that are open on holidays.)

Yes-I have a new icon made, as shown in today's update; I think the bond of friendship between Cassie-Wonder Girl-and Cissie-the gold medalist formerly known as Arrowette-was astounding and I'm pleased it was shown once again in Teen Titans/Outsiders: Secret Files & Origins 2005 last year.

My baby cousin wasn't picked up on Saturday, as I had assumed would be the case. Instead, she was picked up late Friday evening, to my surprise, by the one cousin-besides Amaras-whom I can tolerate: the cousin who was born a year after me. The upcoming week looks to be sunny, but anything can happen-be they good or bad.

The quote for this evening, humorous it may be, is from an issue I'm not particulary thrilled with for one main reason-which is a story for another time.

"I hate online services! Especially Amer-!" -Cassie Sandsmark

"No! No, you don't! You love online services! All of them! The biggest one in particular! (whispers)" -Cissie King-Jones

"I'm, uh...gonna shut up now." -Cassie Sandsmark, Young Justice #38

white_tiger: Tigerzord! (Me)
I went into work a little late, due to having watched my newest movie on DVD that I'd gotten from Layaway yesterday, before eating breakfast, then deciding to take a shower afterward. Despite that, I was able to get everything I needed done at work and made my way to the 2nd Dimension.

When I arrived at the aforementioned store, almost immediately, I walked to a certain area where I'd managed to purchase Teen Titans #1 and Teen Titans #5 and was floored by what I saw in its stead-all three parts of The Titans/Young Justice: Graduation Day right in front of me. Inside, I was bouncing off the walls, near ecstatic by what this meant. Outside, I was calm, cool and focused.

True, the issue ended up costing me $19.43-plus tax, since the price tag was labeled $18.00-but, I believe it was well worth it, since I have been waiting months to find out how this 3-part mini-saga started. Having the last two parts to something like this doesn't mean that much if you don't have the very first part of that something, if you don't know how it began. The quote for this 3-day weekend comes from the same issue.

"We had to land in Dallas. Impulse wrecked the bathroom and the cabin depressurized." -Robin

"I just wanted to know where the water went." -Impulse, The Titans/Young Justice: Graduation Day #1

So far, the week has gone pretty good. I went by the college to see if I could set up an appointment with one of the job placement workers, but was handed a card instead. That means I must either call him or send him an e-mail to set up my appointment. Something I will need to think about this evening...

Infinite Crisis finally came out yesterday, and while I was enthralled by the intense action and drama amidst the pages, the majority of the book was defined in quite a good way by someone I know very well: "It was depressing as hell." After giving it some thought, I found myself agreeing entirely with the previously mentioned statement.

This will be a short entry, due to the caution of time. For the most part, my week in general has been ho-hum, with a smidgen of excitement yesterday. I'll explain about the good in a paragraph or so, then onto the bad.

Yesterday, while at Heroes and buying Gotham Central #34 and The Return of Donna Troy #3 of 4-the conclusion is scheduled to come out later this month-I came across The Titans/Young Justice: Graduation Day #2 and #3, so I bought them, choosing to wait until sometime next week to get Detective Comics #809. (since the issue I didn't get crosses over with Batman.) I was a bit displeased that issue #1 of The Titans/Young Justice: Graduation Day wasn't there, since that is the best cover out of the three issues.

Now, onto the bad-I had plans to spend a baseball game with two of my friends, yet earlier today, I hear that one of them already has other plans, while the other doesn't know if he'll be able to go to the game, having made plans with his mother. Spending time with family is commendable to me, yet the least they both could've done was inform me before agreeing to seeing the game...! The quote for today comes from one of my two recently purchased back issues.

"They need some damned direction...They need to be taught." -Nightwing, The Titans/Young Justice: Graduation Day #2-Commencement

For the most part, my day went fairly well-though, the sun can't be tossed into the conversation, since it's still partially hot outside. (Not at the moment, however). I was able to come across these back issues today and claim them for myself:

The issues were worth the money I paid for them, and like the issues I came across yesterday, I'm pleased I came across these today. Yet, going to work tomorrow doesn't quite strike me as something to look forward to, even if that is the only way I'm able to get paid. The quote for this evening comes from one of the aforementioned back issues.

"...I see Batman...he's speaking VERY slowly...he's saying..." -Robin

"Robin? What'd he say?" -Wonder Girl

"He, um...he said 'Robin, put down the binoculars.'" -Robin, Young Justice #20
white_tiger: Tigerzord! (Robin-The symbol of the Boy Wonder...)
Having braved the semi-harsh, hot and humid weather following work this morning, I was rewarded-in a sense- during the afternoon at the comic book store with seeing a ton of back issues that I've wanted for quite a long while. There are too many to even try to put on a list, so I'll just list the issues I decided to pick up today, which aren't many, but that isn't what mattered:

Young Justice #30

Young Justice #50

Young Justice #1,000,000

Robin #106

I'm still amazed that I can remember the price these books cost me-$11.88, if I'm not mistaken. Tomorrow, I plan to go back and pick up some other issues I had seen but, due to a much-needed desire to get home, I wasn't able to get; both fall under the Young Justice category. The quote for this evening comes from one of my purchased back issues.

"Do leaders hug?" -Wonder Girl

"They've been known to. Just not in front of the troops." -Robin, Young Justice #50
