white_tiger: Tigerzord! (Robin-Clouded with Doubt... by Me)
[personal profile] white_tiger

This will be a short post, but lengthy enough concerning how my day went.

After getting up this morning and going job hunting-after going by work and taking out the trash-for a few hours, I headed down to one of the comic book stores near the college and found a milestone issue-Batman #600! (This issue featured the confrontation/battle between Batman and Nightwing. Though, with Batman evading every step of the way, it didn't go how I envisioned it.) Thankfully, it only cost me $5.00, so I bought it.

After that, I headed to the second comic book store-right next door; ironic, some would say-and told myself I was going to get Supergirl #78.

Things...didn't go how I wanted them to, but I think it turned out for the best.

I came across a second milestone issue, and this one, I'd been trying to get for the longest time-Robin #100! This issue was released a month following Batman #600, so concerning his mentor, Tim Drake wasn't too eager to face him. I was a bit upset that I couldn't get Batgirl #20 or Batgirl #25 at the store (The former featured Spoiler guest-starring in the pages of Batgirl for the first time; the latter was the issue where Cassandra finally faced Lady Shiva in their esteemed death match!), but hopefully, both issues will be there the next time I head out in that direction.

On my way home, after stopping by Wal-Mart and getting some items that I wanted, I came across a dead bird stuck in a fence. I found myself thinking the entire way home on what I would say when I got the chance to put this in my journal. (Seeing that bird is the reason I picked the song I did.) After giving it some rational thought, I came to this conclusion:

Most people would say that you need to live each day to the fullest, or that you should live each day as it were the first day of your life. That is a contradiction, in my opinion, from the true saying. (The first day of everyone's life is when you are a baby. Hardly anybody can remember their first day of life.) The true saying is this one, and one I've tried to remember ever since 8/21. (August 21, 2001-my own personal 9/11.) You should live each day as it were your last day.

The quotes for today come from both of my recently purchased issues.

"Nothing will stand in the way anymore...nothing stands between me and my work...my mission." -Bruce Wayne, Batman #600

"We always get our turn, and we make it count. And nothing the night does can change us." -Tim Drake, Robin #100
