The remnant of the week went pretty well. I survived not having the computer for a total of five days-Sunday through Thursday-and was able to pick up four issues on Wednesday-three DC; one Marvel. At the moment, I'm alone in the house-my mother went on a trip with some people that she knows, and from today until sometime on Sunday, I have the place entirely to myself.

Batman #651

The second part of an 8-part series coinciding with Detective Comics was pretty decent enough. The way it started, with various Gotham citizens giving their insight on seeing the restored BatSignal after a year of Batman not being in Gotham, was well played out. I thought the double confrontation-Batman dealing with Poison Ivy; Robin dealing with one of Ivy's mutated plants-was done with finesse, so to speak.

"My, what big teeth you have." Hilarious when spoken from a could-be-won't-be-frantic Boy Wonder. I also was intrigued that the two covers from Detective Comics and Batman link up. I'm a bit curious as if the remaining six issues will have similar conjoining covers.

Robin #148

I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of this book ever since the release of Robin #147 last month, and it didn't disappoint! From the getgo, nothing but action, drama, pieces of what occurred in between Infinite Crisis and OYL, such as Bruce, Tim and Dick being in Budapest, as well as an encounter with Gotham's Finest-I am psyched about where new writer Adam Beechen is taking the Boy Wonder.

I was particularly pleased to see a mentioning of sorts to Nightwing #118 in this book from Tim:

"Can't speak for Nightwing, but I'm pretty sure I've got all my marbles."

Though, I also found it a bit amusing to hear him say as such about one of his two mentors. Batman's response to Tim during their rooftop meeting cut deeply, even if it was the certifiable truth.

"You couldn't have beaten Cassie."

"Ouch.
"

The Amazing Spider-Man #530

Jumping from DC to Marvel Comics, part 2 of a 3-part epic that leads into Marvel's 7-part Civil War finds our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in Washington D.C., with another upgraded version of his costume-this one, I found to be a bit more useful, especially if he wants to convince others into thinking he's wearing the original costume, or perhaps went back to the dark, Venom-like colors. (Thought the banter between Editor and Editor was truly hilarious, the only difference being the background colors within the boxes.)

Peter's time in the courtroom with Stark seemed...tense. He pretty much agreed with me whilst conversing with Mary Jane while during a ten-minute recess, stating that being in a courtroom wasn't his kind of scene. Spidey's confrontation with the Russian-speaking Titanium Man was pretty impressive, even if the book was drawing near to the end. I thought his response to the officer was quite humorous.

"Sonofa...Does it look like we're pals, pal? Huh?!"

Cannot wait until April to read the conclusion to this 3-part epic that leads into Marvel's 7-part minisaga.

Supergirl and The Legion of Superheroes #16

Jumping back to DC Comics, I will admit that I'm not entirely familiar with the team from the 31st Century, knowing that they exist due to the Teen Titans/Legion special back in late 2004, and hearing various pieces of tidbits from others. (And, seeing the mentions at the DC Comics site itself helps, too.)

I am familiar, however, with the Girl of Steel who does appear in the book. She doesn't appear until nearly the end of it, which I like. This is also supposed to be a 3-part saga, with the book itself getting a change from what it used to be called. I liked how it was labeled on the front of the cover as 1,001 Years Later, confirming it's continuity along with the other 1 Year Later DC books. Supergirl, who is revealed to be the current Kara Zor-El, admits to one of the members that the Legion doesn't exist, and that her appearance in their Century is simply due to the fact that she's dreaming it all. Quite a jawdropper when I first read it. I'm eager to see how it turns out, and eager to eventually pick up Supergirl #6 and Teen Titans #34.

Seeing the mention of a DC Nation on the last page of both Batman and Robin was pretty interesting, since according to Dan Didio, it focuses on the pros and the fans sharing their passion for comics. Similar to 52, it's supposed to be a weekly event.

Within a couple hours or so, I'll be heading to bed. I have plans with a few friends that may or may not be delayed yet again by the appearance of more rain.

"...This night isn't over." -Batman, Batman #651

"Am I gonna be like that...? Always on the edge?" -Tim Drake, Robin #148
