Fathers...Reunions...
Aug. 7th, 2005 01:53 amOn a scale of 1-10, I'd have to declare yesterday a 6. Reason being is because my mother and I returned back to Riverdale-a countryish-like town that's about 30-40 minutes away from Fresno-for my mother's reunion. (My 10-year reunion won't be for another 5 years.) She had fun, and I'm pleased she was able to do so. I spent time with my grandfather, but then he left me at his house due to...a small situation that was easily remedied, as I found out a number of hours later.
I just got home, since my mother decided to remain for the entire event, and hadn't informed me until she was at the reunion. (She'd seen some people who remembered me, especially one in particular because I went to school with that one's child.)
On a more personal level, my mother told me that my father hadn't gone to the reunion-which I wasn't surprised about, naturally-yet, she told me that the one time I'd seen my father-which was on December 30, 1989-wasn't the only time. There were three times total: one was when we were at a McDonald's and she had been given $50.00 by him; the second was the aforementioned date above when I met him at a park, received pizza and a football from him; the third was, according to my mother, when I was on my way to a game, and he nearly hit me. The only time I remember going to a game at all back home was when I was in high school, and that was over 5 years ago.
The quote for this very late evening/very early morning comes from Teen Titans #1.
"You think I need more training? Need to be mentored some more?" -Robin
"No, Robin. I just think you need to see your friends." -The Batman, Teen Titans #1
