It turned out that a "third party," as my mother explained to me, ended up sending a virus into most computers that use AOL, ours included, which meant we couldn't get online. Luckily my mother called AOL yesterday, figured out what needed to be done, and once again, the Internet is accessible from home.
I'd be a bit more cheerful if the end result of my mother repeatedly downloading AOL prior to the earlier knowledge about the virus didn't erase the files/links I had saved in my Favorite Places on AOL. Though, there isn't much I can do about that except surf again and try to find most of the links. To toss even more salt onto my open wound, my dog-who I had named Worf when I first got him around 10 years or so ago; yes, I named him after the character on Star Trek: TNG-died earlier this week. My grandfather isn't sure how it happened, just that when he got home, my dog was dead.
However, I do have quite a bit to be pleased about-my mother and I are getting pizza tonight for dinner, and we are going to visit my grandfather tomorrow. Despite the decision he and my aunt plan to make with the place I know as my home, I still look up to him.
