Not That Much Action...

Yesterday went rather well, if you can make note that I had to go to work early and ended up late going by Heroes. It didn't matter much, as I still got what I'd wanted. Sometime during the afternoon, I helped my mother pick up a new entertainment center-basically a TV stand-for the apartment at Wal-Mart as well as a CD shelf; I get the old entertainment center, which means I get to clean out a spot in my room for it. Today, however, could turn out something entirely different.
Been quite a while since I picked up just one comic book, but on that note I am pleased that I just had to focus on getting one issue. The second part in this four-part saga did show Robin's humorous side on a couple occasions-even while he avoided the Gotham police and made a clean getaway with the Batgirl costume; dressing up as one of the police was genius on his part. Also thought his constant use of the word "crap" in his thought panels was amusing. Really enjoyed the two-page spread that had Robin amidst a third of the police during pages six and seven of the book and wish I could make an icon out of it.

There wasn't much action in this one, which was slightly disappointing, but there was one thing I have been waiting to see for quite some time: The return of Lady Shiva to the pages of Robin. Their conversation reminded me of past Robin issues, whereas their confrontation reminded me of Robin #51, when the two of them fought while Robin was drugged. Tim being kicked into his own wall looked painful, as evidenced by the cracks that are now on his wall, courtesy of Shiva. It was also intriguing to hear that both Tim and Cassandra had been taught the Navajo language by Bruce.
However, with Robin now having no alternative but to break Cassandra's father out of jail, lest Cassandra dies, I'm even more eager to pick up the 150th issue of Robin, the third part in this Boy Wanted saga. The two quotes come from this aforementioned issue, by the way.
"Sending clue signals to the World's Greatest Detective. What a dipstick." -Robin
"You have grown much since last I saw you, little Robin. I wonder...will you survive to grow even further?" -Lady Shiva, Robin #149

Date: 2006-04-20 11:38 pm (UTC)I was on the edge of my seat when they brought in the new SWAT dudes. I was all "wow, they have their s*** together! Robin!!!!"
And he gets out. Oh man. Shiva was a bit of a disappointment for me, but I like her in Birds of Prey. :3

But she's supposed to be scary. Larger than life. And that was missing from the encounter. Robin shouldn't have been able to touch her. I didn't feel satisfied with their meeting.
She's a lot more scary in BoP.

Date: 2006-04-21 01:09 am (UTC)(nods) I noticed the larger than life part in BoP #93, even if I didn't get to pick it up.

And...that's not Shiva. Not at all.
