Half and Half...

The day had it's shares of ups and downs. As the week draws to a close, and the eventual end of the month, I find myself plaqued with familiar feelings. A friend's grandmother passed on last night, and another friend was affected by it; they were close, from what I was told. I was reminded of my grandmother and how, within the next few weeks, I may have her on my mind quite a bit.
While at Heroes, I skimmed through a few comic books and read Solo #10, a series that only comes out on even-numbered months; the next one will come out in June. I was intrigued that Stephanie was Robin in one of the stories, and how Tim was Batman in the last story and is apparently an item with Cassie, who is still Batgirl-no mention on whether it's Cassandra Cain or not, since her hair is colored differently, though one would assume she is. Didn't pick it up, but will eventually do so next week. My mother bought a comic book as well:Serenity-Those Left Behind. Once she's finished reading it, I will take a crack at it myself. (She's finished reading it, so I get to take a crack at reading it sometime this week.)
I also looked at The Battle for Bludhaven #2 and was intrigued to see the Titans at the beginning; I was even more intrigued to see Wonder Girl among the team members. Perhaps a bit of foreshadowing as to if she'll eventually rejoin the team come Teen Titans #35? Only a guess, but it's a possibility.
The Amazing Spider-Man #531
The conclusion of this three-part saga, which leads into next week's Civil War 7-issue saga, leaves me with mixed feelings. On the one hand, I liked how when Spidey drops into the Lincoln Memorial, and reads what's on the plaque; the mention of a civil war hints as to what will happen within the Marvel universe. On the other hand, I was a bit disappointed that Spidey wasn't able to catch Titanium Man, or that he and Iron Man were, as the proverbial saying goes, in cahoots. Also didn't like when Spidey was told to unmask, sit in the witness chair, swear under oath and reveal to the committee his full name and residence; that had been during his unexpected arrival in full costume within court.
I'm also not too certain, with Infinite Crisis coming to a close next week, and Civil War beginning on the same day, that I want to jump from one seven-part drama into another. Still, I have one week to take it under consideration and dwell on it.
Batman #652
Jumping from one comic book company to another, this would be part four of the 8-part saga. Halfway home, as the case would be. I'm truly curious as to what Bruce's plans for Tim's future are, since the past two parts have revealed that Batman, throughout this past year, has emotions other than the supposed paranoia.
Really enjoyed the panels where Tim soared out of the Batwing like his mentor would and landed in the building with ease-though, getting rammed with a spear-like move by Killer Moth? Not entirely expected, but looked pretty cool. The confrontation between Batman and Harvey was expected, but the explosion he'd set up in his own home was something that should've been seen.
Tim managed to take down Killer Moth on his own, but it appears that Harvey vanished in the destruction of his own house, whereas Batman-as usual-survived. Can't wait for part five.
Supergirl and The Legion of Superheroes #17
Jumping 1,001 years into the future with this final pick, I'm reminded of the recent JLU episode Far From Home where Supergirl-known as Kara In-Ze, rather than Kara Zor-El, along with Green Arrow and Green Lantern ended up in the 31st Century, and found out that the 21st Century no longer has any history records of Supergirl following her 21st birthday; the reason behind that is because Kara In-Ze chooses to remain in the future.
Kara Zor-El, on the other hand, believes she is dreaming the 31st Century, and a few of the Legionnaires are a bit skeptical and wonder if she is the real deal because of her explanation. Not to mention that she was offered membership into the Legion, and as expected, she accepted. (She even gets her own flight ring, which is pretty cool.) Light Lass, however, is entirely negative concerning the Girl of Steel and has no problem voicing it. Her attitude somewhat reminds me of Wonder Girl in a way.
I wasn't that pleased to find out Supergirl #6 was pushed back yet again, but as usual take it in stride.
"...Were you off finding yourself? And if so, why did you need to?" -Harvey Bullock, Batman #652
